Addressing Tuesday’s online UN Security Council meeting on the current situation in the Middle East, including Palestine-related issues, Ambassador Quy expressed his profound concern about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and other occupied Palestinian territories, especially amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. He urged Israel to halt the expansion of settlements and the seizure and destruction of Palestinian property and fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law and relevant UN resolutions, including UNSC Resolution 2334.

He said a just and sustainable solution to the Middle East conflict can only be achieved through peaceful negotiations and dialogues between stakeholders on the basis of international law and relevant UN resolutions. The diplomat affirmed Vietnam’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and its consistent support for their just struggle for a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital, living in peace alongside Israel and their border based on the pre-1967 line.
