Vietnam reports 11,299 COVID-19 cases in community Saturday

(VOVWORLD) - An additional 11,321 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Vietnam during the past 24 hours, including 11,299 community infections, said the Health Ministry.

Binh Duong continued to lead in the number of infection with 4,505 new cases, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 4,088 cases.

Of the total, 336,707 locally acquired infections have been detected since the virus recurred nearly four months ago.

Vietnam now ranks 72 of 222 countries and territories worldwide in term of COVID-19 infection.

As many as 140,087 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease, including 7,272 recoveries announced on August 21.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Vietnam has risen to 7,540, accounting for 2.3% of the total number of cases and equivalent to the average COVID-19 death rate in the world.

190,861 vaccine doses were administered on August 20, bringing the total of vaccination to 16,494,665 doses, including 1,707,066 doses being the second shot.
