Vietnam reports 40 new domestic cases of COVID-19 Friday morning

(VOVWORLD) - The Health Ministry confirmed 40 more local COVID-19 infections on Friday. 

30 of the new cases are in Bac Giang, 8 in Lang Son, one in Thai Binh, and one in Long An.  

The cases in Bac Giang are linked to clusters at its industrial parks.

Of the 8 cases in Lang Son, 7 are detected after developing symptoms of coughing and fever and 1 is related to a COVID-19 patient and has been isolated prior to the test result.

The case in Thai Binh is a man who had contact with a COVID-19 patient and has also been quarantined.

In Long An, the patient is a 45-year-old man working at HCM city’s Sheraton Saigon Hotel. He works with a previously confirmed patient, a member of a HCM city religious mission that emerged as a new COVID-19 cluster on Wednesday.

Vietnam has so far detected more than 6,300 cases including more than 3,200 recorded since the latest wave of coronavirus hit Vietnam on April 27. More than 2,800 COVID-19 patients have recovered and 46 have died.
