Vietnam, Russia tighten defense cooperation for regional peace, stability

(VOVWORLD) - Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu discussed military cooperation with Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Ngo Xuan Lich during talks in Moscow.

The two ministers said Vietnam and Russia have strong comprehensive strategic partnership and bilateral military cooperation has been reinforced to gain practical results and strengthen political trust. They agreed to enhance military cooperation based on political trust and signed agreements including the Declaration of Joint Vision. Both sides will share their vision on defense and security issues of mutual concern and strengthen military presence and cooperation.

The two ministers signed the Declaration of Joint Vision on Vietnam-Russia military cooperation for 2020-2025.

Also on Thursday Minister Ngo Xuan Lich visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, met with Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Federal Security Service, and held talks with Russian war veterans who supported Vietnam during the struggle for national liberation. Earlier, he visited the Ho Chi Minh Monument in Moscow and the Tomb of the Unknown Martyrs by the Kremlin wall.
