At the meeting, both sides reaffirmed that the economic, trade, and investment pillar remains a key driver of the overall bilateral relationship.
Minister Dien said that Vietnam considers the US an important partner and remains committed to building a harmonious, sustainable, stable, and mutually beneficial economic and trade relationship with the US. He said Vietnam has no intention of creating obstacles that could harm American workers or US economic and national security.
He outlined specific measures Vietnam is implementing to strengthen trade and investment ties with the US and proposed continued technical discussions to facilitate US recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status.
Dien and Greer stressed the need for close cooperation to ensure a fair and sustainable business environment by reviewing and removing trade barriers and establishing mechanisms to combat trade fraud, origin fraud, and illegal transshipments.
