At the regular session of the Committee on Rules of Origin (CRO) under the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva over the past two days,  Trinh Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Head of the Import and Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, head of the Vietnamese delegation, emphasized the role and responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in implementing rules related to origin of goods, and presented Vietnam’s legal framework for issuing certificates of origin (C/O).

Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to boosting cooperation with WTO members in origin verification and sharing practical experience in certification procedures.

In the coming time, Vietnam aims to launch electronic data exchange mechanisms on origin with certain importing countries to simplify customs procedures and enhance verification efficiency.

WTO members expressed positive impressions of Vietnam’s efforts to improve state management capacity in origin-related matters, step up trade fraud prevention, and ensure transparency in administrative procedures, thereby contributing to trade facilitation.
