Vietnam strengthens bilateral cooperation with UNESCO, its member states

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc has met with UNESCO officials and representatives of UNESCO members to strengthen cooperation in world heritage preservation.

Mr. Ngoc, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, attended the 10th session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday, where participants praised the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and other UNESCO countries and Vietnam’s effective contributions as a member of six UNESCO mechanisms.

They said Vietnam has effectively implemented UNESCO cooperation programs to preserve and promote heritage values and tie them to tourism development, economic development, and people's livelihoods.

Mr. Ngoc called on UNESCO countries to continue supporting Vietnam in education, culture, and science and requested advice and support from the UNESCO Secretariat for Vietnam's new heritage dossiers.
