Vietnam suggests ASEAN, Russia strengthen cooperation, co-exist with COVID-19 risks

(VOVWORLD) -  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh together with Foreign Ministers of ASEAN countries and Russia attended the Special Online Conference on COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The Ministers agreed to promote the sharing of experiences, epidemiological information, forecasting models, technical guidance and solutions, treatment, and response to COVID-19. They emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation to soon produce vaccines and therapeutic drugs, ensuring that countries have equal access to vaccines. The Ministers also agreed to support and create conditions for each other's citizens to repatriate if needed, and at the same time ensure the safety of citizens and students living, working and studying in other countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Minh said that Vietnam is currently implementing a simultaneous approach in two directions, on the one hand to prevent the spread of viruses, on the other hand, boost economic recovery and development. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will strengthen its coordination with all parties, including Russia, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the international community to control and repel the epidemic. He suggested that ASEAN and Russia strengthen cooperation and seek to co-exist with COVID-19 risks.
