(VOVworld) – The EU-ASEAN Aviation Summit has concluded in Singapore with the determination to boost negotiations for a comprehensive air transport agreement.

A joint communique was adopted at the summit, stressing the significance of cooperation and the important role of the project on creating the EU-funded ASEAN Single Aviation Market (SAM). According to the joint communiqué, the summit has laid a useful foundation for deepening the strategic aviation dialogue between ASEAN and the EU. It also identified priority areas and ways to further strengthen EU-ASEAN relations.

At the summit, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang confirmed that Vietnam supports the implementation of the SAM policy in ASEAN and has taken appropriate steps to establish this market by 2015. He added Vietnam is committed to broader engagement to establish an ASEAN single aviation  market, toward formulating a common ASEAN Economic Community.
