To achieve the goal, the Ministry will improve mechanisms and policies by offering conditional support instead of "free of charge” support and promoting the internal strength of people and communities.

The Ministry said it will also strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of the National Poverty Reduction Target Program and periodically review poor and near-poor households in 2024 for the period 2022-2025.

Pham Hong Dao, Deputy Chief of the National Office for Poverty Reduction, told VOV, “2024 is a particularly important year, when future public investment programs are proposed. We must reevaluate all the previous results and be able to orient the programs for the next period to achieve the goals set by the National Assembly and the Government. In 2024, it is necessary to first implement the National Assembly's resolutions and to continue to accelerate the allocation and disbursement of capital. The Ministry will also focus on oversight.”

The rate of poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard in 2023 stood at 2.93%, down 1.1% compared to 2022.
