Vietnam to boost food export, moving toward green agriculture

(VOVWORLD) - Though many countries are limiting food and grocery exports, Vietnam will show its responsibility to the world by boosting food exports while ensuring national food security and restructuring agriculture, according to Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan.

Minister Hoan told the National Assembly on Tuesday that Vietnam will promote biopesticide and digital transformation in pesticide management to pursue green agriculture.

Vietnam is also moving toward sustainable development of its fishing industry by reducing exploitation and increasing aquaculture, Minister Hoan said. He added that drastic measures are underway to expand export markets for Vietnamese farm produce.

“We are drafting a targeted promotion project for each specific market: the US, the EU and China. Each market has its own norms, potential and regulations. Markets will serve as the basis for agricultural production planning,” said Minister Hoan.

He noted that the sector is working hard to shift from agricultural production to an agricultural economy.
