VSS Director Nguyen The Manh, said, "The Government has set a health insurance coverage  target of 91%, but we will try to achieve 91.56%. The COVID-19 epidemic is complicating the situation, though, so we have prepared alternate scenarios to accomplish our goals."

Vietnam Social Security has implemented solutions to increase health insurance coverage and provide support beyond the minimum required by law for students, poor people, and people working in agriculture, forestry, or fisheries. VSS is currently assessing people by industry group, gender, age, and region to try to increase participation in social insurance and health insurance.
