Vietnam to turn off light for Earth Hour 2019

(VOVWORLD) -All 64 provinces and cities of Vietnam will turn off lights for 1 hour from 8.30 pm on March 30 to respond to Earth Hour this year.

A ceremony to launch the Earth Hour campaign themed “saving energy, protecting the earth,” was held in Hanoi on on Sunday. Held in Vietnam for 11th years, the campaign raises public awareness on energy saving and using energy in an efficient way. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, head of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, said: “This year, we will focus on solutions to energy saving. In addition turning off lights and other electric appliances at home and at work during unnecessary time, attention will be paid to energy saving technologies for businesses and communities. Energy saving helps protect the environment and reduce energy costs to enhance competitiveness of the economy.”  

This year’s Earth Hour campaign will see the presence of Miss Universe Vietnam H’Hen Nie, World Bank Country Director Ousmane Dione, and representatives from major industry groups.
