Vietnam treasures, prioritizes fostering ties with Laos

(VOVWORLD) - On Wednesday President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Laos Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasit who is in Hanoi for the 10th Vietnam-Laos Foreign Ministerial Political Consultation Meeting.

At the meeting, President Thuong praised the outcome of the 10th Vietnam-Laos Foreign Ministerial Political Consultation Meeting which he said would contribute to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

President Thuong asked the Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to create conditions for overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese businesses in Laos to foster special ties between the two countries. President Thuong said Vietnam would do its utmost to support Laos as the ASEAN Chair in 2024.

At a meeting with the Lao leader, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam treasures and prioritizes the fostering of the Vietnam-Laos relationship. He urged the two Foreign Ministries to work closely, increase delegation exchanges, and promote cooperation mechanisms and prepare for the 46th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee.

PM Chinh stressed the need to strengthen closer coordination between the two countries at regional and global forums including at ASEAN, the UN, and Sub-region cooperation programs.
