Vietnam, UN work for SDGs

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam values the support on the part of the UN during post-war reconstruction, renovation, and international integration, said Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.

Trung said the UN has become a forum for Vietnam to realize its foreign policy of multilateralization and diversification of international relations and the befriending with all countries. Vietnam has taken advantage of UN forums to expand bilateral and multilateral relations. Vietnam has fulfilled its mission as a Non-Permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2008-2009 tenure and will resume the post in the 2020-2021 tenure. The resumption reflects Vietnam’s increased international status after more than 30 years of renewal and its sense of responsibility for global peace and security. UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Kamal Malhotra said the UN will continue to support Vietnam to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals. The organization also pledged to help Vietnam increase productivity, competitiveness, and access to financial resources to achieve SDGs.
