Vietnam vows to ensure safety and security for Vietnamese community in Ukraine

(VOVworld) – In response to reporters’ questions concerning Vietnam’s protection of its citizens in Ukraine, a representative of the Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry said: “There are approximately 10,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Ukraine, mostly in the major cities of Kharkov, Odessa, Kiev, and Donesk. Immediately after the situation in Ukraine became complicated, Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry instructed the Vietnamese embassy in Ukraine to closely follow the situation and take measures to ensure safety and security for the Vietnamese community there. There has been no information of Vietnamese citizens harmed by developments in Ukraine. The Vietnamese embassy in Ukraine has been cooperating with Vietnamese Associations in different localities in Ukraine to help ensure safety and security for Vietnamese citizens and property in conflict regions. The embassy has assigned specific personnel to assist them in cases of emergency and process necessary procedures for those who wish to go home. The Foreign Ministry and the Vietnamese embassy in Ukraine have announced on the media the hotlines of the embassy (+380503320535/+380503359097) and the Consular Department (+84918370497) for necessary contacts.”
