(VOVworld) – Vietnam values UNWOMEN’s support for its national development and gender equality promotion, said Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc at a meeting on Monday with Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno, President of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UNWOMEN).

Ngoc said Vietnam will continue working to fulfil its UN Millennium Development Goals and contribute to the UN’s post-2015 development agenda. Pizzorno said he was impressed by Vietnam’s achievements in ensuring gender equality and women’s empowerment through its National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2011-2020 period and the National Programme on Gender Equality for the 2011-2015 period. He praised the “One UN” initiative as a successful example of Vietnam-UN co-operation.
