Vietnamese abroad celebrate Lunar New Year 2014

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos organized a Lunar New Year meeting on Sunday. Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung said in 2013 Vietnam overcame many difficulties to achieve an economic growth rate of 5.4 percent and curb inflation.

Hung acknowledged contributions made by Vietnamese people in Laos to Vietnam’s Constitutional amendments to build a wealthy, democratic, equitable, and civilized country. He expressed his pleasure at the strong development of traditional ties of friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, whose trade totaled more than 1 billion USD last year. Hoang Van Khuong is a Vietnamese living in Vientiane: “The happiest thing is that the Vietnamese government takes care of the Vietnamese community abroad. This is valuable for us. We want to tell to our descendants that wherever they live, the government will always take care of them.”

Overseas Vietnamese from across the UK gathered in London on Sunday to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Quang Minh expressed his delight at the success Overseas Vietnamese have had and extended his best wishes to them on the Tet holiday. He presented certificates of merit to outstanding students and individuals who have contributed to the development of the Overseas Vietnamese community.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, held a get-together to mark the festive holiday with many overseas Vietnamese participating. The representative of the overseas Vietnamese expressed gratitude for the care of the Party and State, saying that the Vietnamese people in Israel will do their best to build a sustainable economic community.
