Vietnamese doctoral professor receives Southeast Asia Future Women award

(VOVWORLD) - Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City National University, was honored with the Southeast Asia Future Women award 2023 last Wednesday.

Dr. Huong graduated with a doctorate in neuroscience from Stanford University (USA) in 2018. After graduation she returned to Vietnam to seek solutions for brain-related problems, including Alzheimer’s Disease. Last year she was awarded the L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science National Science Scholarship with a project to create a kit to detect Alzheimer’s disease on the spot without having to use diagnostic equipment found in hospitals.

Dr. Huong was one of 10 young scientists to receive the 2023 Golden Globe Award for her research into Brain Analytics software, which analyze MRI images of patients’ brains and diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease accurately, automatically, and quickly.
