Vietnamese musicians bag 5 top prizes at Singapore competition

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese musicians triumphed with 5 top prizes at the recent 18th ZhongSin International Music Competition in Singapore, which, for this first time, featured the H’Mong flute, a traditional instrument of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese finalists are talents from both professional and non-professional institutions, such as Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Conservatory of Ho Chi Minh City. 

Three of the first prizes for amateur pianists of various age groups went to Ngo Nam Khanh, Tran Thanh Mai, and Pham Thanh Truc.

In the Open (professional) category, Vietnamese singer Nguyen Tuan Nghia and traditional flutist Ly Minh Cuong from the Vietnam National Academy of Music also earned two first prizes in their respective disciplines.
