Vietnamese-funded National Assembly building handed over to Laos

(VOVWORLD) - A newly-built National Assembly building funded by Vietnam is to be handed over to Laos as Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc is paying an official friendship visit to Laos on Monday and Tuesday.

The building, a special gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Laos, was inaugurated after nearly 38 months of construction. The 112 million USD project was invested by the Ministry of Construction, and Army Corps 11 under the Ministry of Defense worked as general contractor.

Built on the foundation of the old National Assembly house at Thatluang Square, the center of Vientiane capital city, the building is the venue for meetings of the Lao National Assembly and important ceremonies.
