Vietnam is now the largest owner of domain names in its national language in the world. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang said the number of domains in Vietnamese has nearly quadrupled over the past 17 years. Domain names in Vietnamese belong to Internationalized Domain Names. They are used in non-English-speaking countries, where people use their own language when accessing the Internet. Vietnamese-language domain names are aimed at protecting ideas, product names, services, and trademarks of Vietnamese enterprises on the global internet.
