Vietnam’s instant noodles no longer subject to EU food safety control

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s instant noodles will be exempted from food safety control in the EU starting July 2, as they now meet related regulations. The European Commission (EC) announced the change on Wednesday.

However, the inspection frequency at border gates for the products remains at 20%.

Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Belgium and the EU, Tran Ngoc Quan attributed the decision to relentless efforts by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, other relevant authorities, and businesses to enhance the quality and safety of instant noodle exports to the EU.

The updated status will help Vietnamese instant noodles reach the EU market more easily. The EU has a potential market of more than 450 million people.

The change is also the result of building a national brand for Vietnamese agricultural products. In addition, the EU has adjusted inspection regulations for a number of other Vietnamese farm produce.
