Vietnam’s labour commitments to CPTPP, EVFTA discussed

(VOVWORLD) - Joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will spur Vietnam to modernise its labor laws and improve labor quality and productivity, according a workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

Workshop attendees discussed the implementation of EVFTA and CPTPP labor commitments, the roadmap for ratification of International Labour Organisation conventions, changes to Vietnam’s Labour Law, and the implementation of international labor standards by local businesses.

According to Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep, the Ministry is considering ratifying the 3 basic conventions of the ILO to show Vietnam’s commitments to new-generation agreements.
