Vietnam's mobile internet climbs 15 places to 22nd in the world
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s mobile internet download speed increased 54% from 86.96 Mbps in December 2024 to 134.19 Mbps, according to January Internet rankings released by Ookla, the company behind the Speedtest tool.

Vietnam's ranking in the mobile broadband category has jumped to 22nd and about 3 Mbps behind the 20th place. This is the highest speed achieved in Vietnam, according to Ookla statistics, almost double that of last September.
The UAE has the highest mobile Internet speed of 545.94 Mbps while Singapore tops the list with the highest fixed Internet speed of 336.45 Mbps.
The sharp increase in Internet speed in Vietnam is attributed to the commercialization and increasing popularity of 5G networks. Since last September when the new generation of mobile connections began to be deployed, the Internet speed chart has shown signs of progress after many years of stagnation.
After Viettel's 5G network was launched, an Ookla representative said that 5G in Vietnam reached an average of more than 300 Mbps, nearly six times the average speed of 4G in the country.
