VOV wins three 2023 ABU prizes

(VOVWORLD) - The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was honored with three 2023 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) prizes at the awards ceremony in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on Tuesday.

This year, the ABU received 357 entries from more than 50 member broadcasters in the region including NHK, KBS, BBC, ABC, and VOA.

VOV won one prize for “The Dream of Swimming and a 7,300-day Journey" in the News Reporting category; one prize for “25cm of Hair Will Help Me Blend in With Flair” in the Community Service Announcement (CSA) category; and the special commendation for “Minh Minh” in the Documentary category.

This is the first time VOV has won the CSA category.

“I’m happy and honored to receive the ABU award on behalf of my colleagues at VOVWORLD. This award is a big encouragement to us. We hope our CSA will contribute to helping cancer patients. I would like to thank the ABU for creating a useful venue for regional broadcasters, and VOV’s leaders for creating the best possible conditions for us to participate in this contest,” said Nguyen Hong Van, co-producer of the winning entry “25cm of Hair Will Help Me Blend in With Flair”.

Since 2010, VOV has won 14 ABU prizes.
