(VOVworld) – A Greek exit from the Eurozone would be a lasting blow to Greece and to the EU’s most ambitious political and economic project, former EC President Herman van Rompuy said on Wednesday.

He told a Brussels conference that if Greece leaves the euro zone, the biggest victims will be the Greek people, and the Eurozone will also be damaged because doubts would arise if another crisis happened in the future. Van Rompuy urged all sides to consider the political and geopolitical implications of such a step, not just economic and financial arguments.
The same day, Greece’s Central Bank warned that Greece would leave the Eurozone and even the EU, if it couldn’t reach a deal with its creditors on a financial relief package.
