The forum focuses on promoting a “forward thinking approach” to interconnected crises, while maintaining a realistic approach about “short-term trade-offs.”

Amid an increasingly complex global backdrop, the meeting aims to bridge the growing North-South divide and find collaborative solutions to shared challenges.

In a press release ahead of the event, WEF President Børge Brende emphasized that with geopolitical tensions and socio-economic disparities deepening divides globally, international collaboration and purposeful dialogue has never been more urgent. He added that this Special Meeting provides an opportunity for leaders from across sectors and geographies to turn ideas into action and unlock scalable solutions to the many interconnected challenges.

On the sidelines of this World Economic Forum, international leaders and the Palestinian Authority are expected to conduct special discussion sessions on the nearly 7-month-long conflict in the Gaza Strip between the Israeli army and the Hamas forces.

President of Palestine, Prime Minister of Qatar, Crown Prince of Oman and the top diplomats of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt and representatives of the Bahraini government are expected to join the discussion.
