WHO reaffirms safety of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine

(VOVWORLD) - The World Health Organization (WHO) has reaffirmed that there is no link between the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and blood clotting in patients.

In a fresh statement to EuroNews the WHO said: "As of today, there is no evidence that the incidents are caused by the vaccine, and it is important that vaccination campaigns continue so that we can save lives and stem severe diseases resulting from the virus".

It added that in extensive vaccination campaigns, it is normal for countries to signal potential adverse events and it is good practice to investigate them.

The European Medical Agency joined the WHO by saying the levels of blood clotting in vaccinated people did not seem to be higher than in the general population.
