WHO strongly supports COVID-19 vaccine booster doses
(VOVWORLD) - The World Health Organization said it strongly supports urgent and broad access to COVID-19 vaccines for primary series and booster doses, particularly for groups at risk of developing severe disease, given that current COVID-19 vaccines continue to provide high levels of protection against severe disease and death, even in the circulation of Omicron.

WHO said that the public health goal of COVID-19 vaccination prioritizes protection against severe infection and death.
A number of scientific studies show that a vaccine booster using any of the licensed vaccines helps improve immunity which gradually weakens after the basic doses. WHO also said it continues to follow the spread of sub-Omicron variants in the world, including the BA.2 that can cause reinfection.
