Winners of start-up contest in Mekong Delta honored

(VOVWORLD) - The winners of a startup competition in the Mekong Delta region were revealed during a ceremony held in Can Tho city on Friday.

The competition received more than 1,500 entries from 4,000 contestants. Nguyen Phuong Lam, Director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in the Mekong Delta, said the competition provides an opportunity for young startups to update information and trends and learn how to access capital and improve business competitiveness.

"While a startup doesn't begin with a competition, but the competition might serve as a starting point and guide us toward more sustainable development," Lam added.

Tien Giang province with an a project on producing coconut cookies using natural ingredients claimed the contest's top honor - the second prize. The project "Vietnamese Mud Crab - Making a Difference" of Ca Mau province secured the third prize
