(VOVWorld) – Experts from the National Assembly Office, the Vietnam Lawyers Association and research institutes have gathered in Hanoi to comment on draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution. They discussed ways to finetune the political regime, human rights and constitutional protection mechanism. Professor Tran Ngoc Duong is from the National Assembly: “Human rights and citizens obligations have been demonstrated well on the draft amendments. They have been moved to Chapter 2 to reflect people’s central role in constitutional building and in line with international treaties Vietnam adheres to. Several new rights have been added as a result of the recent renovation.”

Delegates said the draft should set out regulations on the Party's leadership and its constitutional role of leadership in the State and society. The Ho Chi Minh City’s Fatherland Front held a similar workshop on Thursday and will organize another next week to collect opinions from scholars and religious dignitaries.
