World Bank provides 6.5 million dollars of aid to Vietnam’s fisheries sector

(VOVworld)-The World Bank has approved an addition aid worth 6.5 million USD for the “Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development” project in Vietnam. The aid is sourced from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), a WB-managed trust fund that provides grants for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, ozone reduction and persistent organic pollution. It will be used for inter-sectoral planning for coastal areas and the management of near-shore fishing. It will be directly allocated to poor fishermen to help them in making and implementing the plans. Beneficiaries from the project include Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces.
