Nhat Tan village in Hanoi, one of Vietnam’s biggest flower growing areas, is famous for peach blossoms. Nhat Tan peach blossoms include pink blossoms, light pink blossoms, white blossoms, and That Thon blossoms - an ancient bright red variety widely considered the king of all peach blossoms.

Do Van Phuc of Duc Phuc garden said, “This year’s weather is good, so the peaches are blooming beautifully. Nhat Tan peach blossoms stand out nationwide because of the villagers’ generations of experience.”

“Nhat Tan peach blossoms are always darker than in other places, with thicker petals and bigger flowers. This year people from southern and central provinces have placed more orders for peach branches and trees,” said Phuc.

Hoanh Bo flower village in the northern border province of Quang Ninh supplies tens of thousands of flowering trees and pots of various kinds.

Shopper Luong Thi Vinh told VOV, “Flowers in this garden are beautiful and reasonably priced. Every year, in addition to a peach or kumquat tree, my family buys apricot flowers and orchids for decoration and confetti to decorate the balcony.”

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has 46 ha of flowers for Tet markets. Nguyen Dac Loc of Da Le Chanh flower village said rose, daisy, marigold, carnation, and lily are the most-grown flowers.

“Generally this year's productivity is good. Flowers are predicted to bloom right at Tet. Traders have already ordered up to 80% of my flowers. This year's flower prices are higher than in previous years, nearly 2 USD per pot,” said Loc.

Sa Dec village in Dong Thap province, the biggest ornamental flower village in the Mekong Delta, has supplied domestic and foreign markets for many years.

This year, Sa Dec growers plan to produce about 3 million flower pots of all kinds. With favorable weather, flowers will bloom right on time for the Tet holiday. Selling prices are expected to be 10 to 30% higher than in previous years.

“A few years ago, each association planted 5,000 pots, but this year only 2 or 3 thousands. I’ve been selling since the Christmas holiday and already I want to stop and rest.  I only grow flowers for customers who visit our village. I don’t sell to traders because of the current epidemic situation,” said Pham Ngoc Hiep, a flower grower in Sa Dec.
