(VOVworld)-Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has hailed the signing of the Paris Accords 40 years ago to restore peace in Vietnam as the longest and most difficult negotiation process but the most glorious victory in the country’s diplomatic history.

During his interview with Voice of Vietnam, Minh said the accords is a steadfast struggle for basic rights of the Vietnamese people and the most comprehensive legal document recognizing those rights, namely independence, reunification and territorial integrity:“The success of the Paris conference and the Vietnamese people’s resistance war confirms that a minor state could win any aggressors thanks to its just cause and determination to fight for independence and freedom. The Paris conference and accords are endless source of encouragement, contributing to the world’s struggle for independence, freedom, peace and justice.”

The Foreign Minister highlights major lessons for the Vietnamese diplomacy: “The first and foremost lesson is the confidence on the wise and bright leadership of the Party, which is decisive in all victories. Independence and self-determination is most important principle in handling diplomatic issues. Cooperation between sectors, creativeness and people’s strength will ensure success.”
