Asian science conference opens in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld) - More than 140 scientists and managers from science parks, universities and institutes from 20 Asian countries and territories gathered in Ho Chi Minh City for the annual conference of the Asian Science Parks Association, ASPA, on Thursday. Themed 'Science Parks for a Green Economy', the two-day conference discussed development policies, closer links and cooperation, and an adequate high-tech workforce. The Minister for Science and Technology Nguyen Quan said that during international integration, Vietnam has been upgrading its research and development technologies to improve the country’s scientific and technological capacity and contribute more to the national economy. Minister Quan says ‘This is an ideal opportunity for commercial and investment networking between Vietnam and other Asian countries. The exchange of knowledge in science-parks and hi-tech developments between academies, scientists and managers is highly beneficial for Vietnam and other ASPA members. In Vietnam’s strategy for developing science and technologies until this year, the value of high-tech products and the application of high-technologies are expected to account for 40% of total industrial production revenue. The topics up for discussion at this meeting are extremely helpful for the science and technology sector in Vietnam and the world’.
