Congress praises enthusiastic learning movement
(VOVworld) – 400 outstanding families and clans of the enthusiastic learning movement gathered at a national congress on Wednesday to review 15 years of the national study promotion emulation campaign and the 17-year work of the Vietnam Study Promotion Society. The meeting drew lessons about developing the emulation of building studious families, clans, and society, and understanding the promotion movement in new period, in order to meet the demands of community-building and comprehensive educational reform.
Chairman of the Vietnam Study Promotion Society Nguyen Manh Cam said:"The movement of studious families, clans, and society embodies Vietnam’s traditions and corresponds with modern trends. In Vietnam’s history, great personalities with high academic achievements and social status were the pride of their clans and went down in posterity. Building a learning community is a general trend which engages not only schools but all social forces".
The Vietnam Study Promotion Society has established its branches in all 63 cities and provinces across Vietnam, with 11 million members. The learning tradition involves not only members of the society but all Vietnamese.
UNESCO Representative in Vietnam Katherine Muler Marin said:"UNESCO is proud to be a partner along with other members of the National Steering Committee on building a learning society in the process to develop a shared vision of Vietnam’s desired learning society and citizens. We will define a joint action plan to realize such vision".
