Local authorities nationwide have been gearing up efforts to help disadvantaged people enjoy a happy Lunar New Year Festival. Da Nang city has allocated nearly 1million USD to buy Tet gifts for 7,000 underprivileged households. The city’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs plans to donate 1,000 tons of rice to extremely poor families.
The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum will spend over 150,000 USD from its reserve fund to help prepare Tet for social beneficiaries, relatives of martyrs and invalids, heroic mothers, and senior citizens. Nguyen Trung Thuan, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said:“The Department and its local offices will work with authorities at all levels to give Tet gifts to social beneficiaries”.
