At the 5th National Congress of the Association in Hanoi on Friday, Mr. Dam said thanks to the support of the Party, State, society, and the Association, tens of millions of people with difficulties have stood on their feet and set a bright example of strong will. This will help change the society’s perception of the disabled and contribute to ensuring equality and social welfare for common progress. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said: “I call on the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and administrations at all levels to create better conditions for the Association’s operations. This will enable the Association to work on humanitarian projects, give feedback to State policies, and supervise the enforcement of laws on the disabled and disadvantaged children. I appeal the business community and all Vietnamese to promote the tradition of “the haves help the have-nots” to stand side by side with the Association to protect and help the disabled and disadvantaged children.”

The Congress elected Luong Phan Cu President of the Viet Nam Association for Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans for the next 5 year term. The new Executive Committee includes 73 members.
