At early Sunday morning, Trinh Van Han, a worker of Yama Motor Company, was waiting with other workers outside the Thang Long industrial zone on the outskirts of Hanoi. Han said:
"It’s very difficult to take a bus during Tet. In the recent 3 years, the company has organized free bus trips for workers to return to their home villages and take them back after Tet. This year, the company has buses for the workers and their families to go home."
Nguyen Dac Truyen, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nissli Electric Hanoi Company, said salary, bonuses, and travel tickets are major needs of workers. "A half of our workers are from central provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh. Several others come from Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces." This year, we organize buses for more than 400 workers to go home."
This has been the 7th year the Hanoi Confederation of Labor organizing free trips for workers during Tet. About 70 buses have transported 3,000 workers from Thang Long, Quang Minh, Noi Bai, and Thach That-Quoc Oai industrial parks today and tomorrow.
