Hung King Veneration Ritual to get UNESCO recognition

(VOVworld) – The Hung King Veneration Ritual was one of 18 heritages suggested for UNESCO recognition at the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Cecile Duvelle, Secretary of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, made this affirmation at a press conference on Wednesday to announce the session to be held next week in Paris. The committee will weigh the list of Intangible Cultural Heritages in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and the list of the Representative Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity. Responding to VOV’s correspondent in France, Duvelle spoke highly of Vietnam’s dossiers, adding that Vietnam will possibly be named twice for the Hung King Veneration Ritual and the report on heritage preservation. Develle said: Vietnam has actively promoted and preserved heritages to show the whole world your efforts. I appreciate your integration of heritage preservation into education in diversified forms. Vietnam has been mentioned several times in the World Heritage Committee’s reports for notable conservation measures. Vietnam is undoubtedly a model showing that the best preservation method does not necessarily come from the wealthiest country. Heritage preservation is part of the national sustainable development strategy in terms of both culture and socio-economics.

According to Duvelle, the Intergovernmental Committee was suggested to recognize 18 out of 35 representative intangible cultural heritages and 3 out of 7 intangible cultural heritages in need of urgent safeguarding.
