International conference on traffic safety in Vietnam

(VOV) – The Vietnamese government has instructed ministries localities to impose drastic traffic safety measures to ensure traffic safety in recent years. Speaking at the international conference on Traffic Safety in Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the measures concentrated on upgrading infrastructure, increasing public transportation, and traffic management. "In responding to the Decade of Action for Road Traffic Safety from 2011 to 2020 initiated by the UN, the Vietnamese government commits to halve the number of traffic casualties by 2020. Beside the effort of the government, ministries, sectors, and the public, we need experience of domestic and international experts. The outcome of this conference will be useful for making policies and strategies to ensure short-term and long-term traffic safety in Vietnam," Phúc said.

The conference on Traffic Safety in Vietnam is co-organized by the National Committee on Traffic Safety and the WB concentrating on road traffic management, infrastructure, safe and friendly means of transportation, road users, and dealing with traffic accidents.
