Mid-Autumn festival celebrations underway nationwide
(VOV/VNA) – Three hundred children of people and soldiers living in the Truong Sa Islands attended a Full-moon Gala in Truong Sa district, Khanh Hoa province, yesterday.

The children listened to the State President’s annual Mid-Autumn festival letter, received gifts, and played folk games. Nguyen Viet Thuan is Vice Chairman of the Truong Sa Island District People’s Committee.‘This is an opportunity for people in Khanh Hoa province, especially the children to better understand Truong Sa so that they will do their utmost in best to become useful citizens contributing defense of national territorial waters. This program encourages local households to do more for the islands.’
The same day Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented gifts to child representatives of five of Hanoi’s outlying districts at a similar celebration in Hanoi. Gifts were also given to children in extremely disadvantaged circumstances to help them enjoy a happier Mid-Autumn festival.
In the mountainous district of Ky Son, in the central province of Nghe An, final preparations have been made for a Mid-Autumn Festival which will encourage local poor children to overcome difficulties to continue their education. In addition to the financial support of the province, the district People’s Committee has tapped the local Social protection Fund to buy sets of book worth 10 USD each. Mid-Autumn ceremonies were also organized for disadvantaged children and orphans in Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces. Activities are underway nationwide this week to ensure a happy festival for all Vietnamese children.
