Dung said that the construction sector in Vietnam loses up to 20% of its investment through losses and waste from construction investment. There are currently more than 50,000 construction projects with no up-to-date general reviews. The Minister suggested that the government completes the related legislation while enhancing state management agencies, especially on construction projects that use capital from the state budget. Mr. Dung said: "Losses from investments in construction is a pressing issue that needs to be addressed immediately. The Minstry of Construction is drafting a Decree on licensing and managing the quality of construction works that requires related state management agencies to get involved in assessing the designs and costs of the projects, or even every part of the project, in stead of leaving on these tasks to businesses in accordance with the current legislation. It’s necessary to enhance state management at every level before and after the projects are completed."
The issues concerning the people include the prices and quality of houses built for low-income earners, the restoration of old apartment buildings, the fluctuations in prices of construction materials, the use of untrained workers, many of them seasonal, has also led to many fatal accidents lately. Minister Trinh Dinh Dung appreciated the opinions contributed by the citizens and promised stricter supervision and management when handling breaches of the law in the construction sector.
