Month for the Poor begins

(VOVworld) – A Month for the Poor (October 17th to November 18th) has been launched.

Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Vu Trong Kim said the month aims to mobilize more resources to improve the lives of the poor by ensuring social security targets and fulfilling national socio-economic, security and defense tasks. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the event’s organizers have called on enterprises to support a fund for the poor. 

Vice President and Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Vu Trong Kim said the Month for the poor will pool more resources to help poor people improve their lives, ensure social security, and contribute to fulfilling socio-economic, national secretary and defense tasks.

In a ceremony to launch the Month for the poor in Tien Giang, government agencies, enterprises, organizations, and individuals had donated over 1.2 billion VND. In the past years, social donations have been used to build nearly 900 houses for social beneficiary families and poor people and have partially funded the upgrading of 860 houses. Hundreds of poor people have received financial funding for production, study, healthcare, and other social services.

In Ninh Thuan province, over 6.8 billion VND was raised at a meeting to raise funds for the poor on Thursday.
