(VOV) – A national online consultation conference on amendments to the 1992 Constitution took place in Hanoi today.

Nguyen Sinh Hung, National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the Committee on drafting amendments to the Constitution said the public plays an important role in building and amending the Constitution. In Vietnam’s legislative history, people have contributed their ideas to Constitution building and amendments, demonstrating their mastery in national affairs: "It’s important to collect people’s ideas about the country’s decisive affairs, so it should be done in a prudent, transparent and democratic manner. People’s ideas should be seriously taken into consideration to improve the quality of the draft Constitutional amendments".

Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member and Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Commission for Communication and Education talked the consultation process communication activities: "Collecting people’s ideas should be implemented widely. It involves people of all social strata, areas, careers and gender. Conditions need to be created for people to contribute their ideas. Vietnamese people living inside or outside the country are eligible to contribute ideas. We should bring into full play the role of overseas Vietnamese community and Vietnamese representative agencies in other countries to build a Constitution that meets the people’s aspiration".

The draft revision to the 1992 Constitution is made public for people’s feedback from January 2 to March 31st by direct comments at meetings or by post to the media.
