Project on continued reform of National Assembly agencies discussed

(VOVworld) – The National Assembly needs a more democratic, practical, and effective performance by reforming its working methods and structure. That was the conclusion drawn from opinions gathered regarding the draft project on continued reform of National Assembly agencies, conducted by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Wednesday in Halong city, Quang Ninh province.

According to Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Quang Ninh provincial Party’s Committee, it’s important that the deputies get closer to people and the number of full-time legislators is increased to more effectively carry out their inspections and legislative works.

The opinion was backed by Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong: "The number of full-time deputies must be gradually increased, with a guarantee of representation, professionalism, and expertise. Deputies on the Ethnicity Council and other committees should have a strong vision and profound knowledge covering a wide range of issues. Improvements should be made to the procedures and quality of law building and supervision as well as decision-making on key issues."
