During his meeting with his Indian counterpart on the sidelines of the dialogue, General Vinh reiterated Vietnam’s stance to promote strategic partnership with India while national defense relations serving as a key pillar. He also called for more support from India in defense training and industries. Indian Defense Minister Antony said relationship with Vietnam is a priority in India’s Look East policy. Both agreed to ensure efficient organization of a deputy ministerial strategic dialogue in India later this year. Regarding the East Sea issue, Deputy Defense Minister Vinh noted that adhering to international law means all countries should have similar understanding and explanation of international law. He confirmed that the sovereign right of coastal countries over their exclusive economic zones within 200 nautical miles should be definitely respected.
