(VOVworld) – A workshop to contribute opinions to the draft document of the 12^th National Party Congress opened in Hanoi on Monday. Delegates stressed the need to increase social oversight and criticism to enhance democracy and fight corruption. They said that a democratic mechanism will promote social development and democracy will increase transparency in society. Professor Ho Si Quy, former Director of the Institute of Social Science Information, said: “Democracy should go along with the building of a state governed by law. Citizens have the responsibility to respond to policies, laws, and Party building.”

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan said that enhancing democracy is particularly essential in the context of global integration.
