(VOVworld)-Vietnam aims to reduce energy consumption to between 2.5 and 3% per year of its GDP equivalent. The target was presented at the workshop on Vietnam Green Growth Strategy held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi today. The strategy aims to cut the green house gas emission intensity by between 10 and 15% against 2010. The attendees discussed targets and activities of the Strategy including the effective utilization of natural resources and elimination of industries that waste natural resources and cause environmental pollution. "Approaching green growth and building a green economy are essential in the coming decades. Green growth is a method of sustainable economic development. The green growth strategy focuses on policy making, economic restructuring, fiscal reform and investment inflow to reduce green house gas emission, increase green volume in GDP and create green jobs. The Ministry of Planning and Investment are implementing major activities of the Strategy and will submit the government for comments this June", said Nguyen The Phuong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
